Mapping the Marlpit

A key milestone on the Kett's Hill Woodland project is the mapping of existing key features and topography contours onto paper.

We are very grateful to Mr Philip Madeley, F.C.Inst.C.E.S., a chartered surveyor who provided his services on a pro-bono basis. Together with Trustees Fraser Bateman and Phil Hayton, three days were spent on site gathering almost 1,500 data points including significant trees and ground levels. This will allow us to generate site plans, contour maps and cross sections to assist with developing accessible paths and other features.

Our map begins with the emerging footpaths we are creating through the site. Over the coming months, this map will develop and form the basis for a tree survey and community consultation on amenities and facilities.
